 Our day

I offer nurturing, Loving caring stable childcare in a home environment and a small mixed age group, infants - 10 yrs

I believe kids should be kids, busy discovering, imagining, pretending, creating, being active, and learning about nature and the world around them, while feeling secure, and getting a hug or a cuddle when they need one.

They also need to learn to get along with other children and adults, to be kind and helpful, to have empathy for others, while developing their own individuality.

Our Tv is in the livingroom the older children will watch a movie during nap/quiet time and a show in the morning before leaving for school will let the children watch an age appropriate show during transition times.  Rest assured though, that the children are not sitting in front of the TV all day.Being a mom myself, I can relate to parents' struggles and concerns. I may have to take your child in my van to pick up or drop off children to school I will show you my insurance and drivers liecense your child will be puit in a car seat that is  fit for there age and wieght. We are partners in raising your child, and open communication is of the utmost importance to me

Please send your child in comfortable, easy to wash clothing, they may get dirty!.

A few words on manners & discipline
I treat each child with respect and expect the same in return. Please and thank you's are encouraged from all children. I strive for a calm and relaxed atmosphere in my home. I cannot allow screaming, running, chasing or jumping off furniture in my home. We can yell, run and jump outdoors!I believe in redirection and natural consequences as opposed to punishment. Time-outs are used sparingly, when I feel the child could benefit from thinking about their actions, or needs some time to calm down apart from the other children. I will usually give the child a choice to improve the behaviour before asking them to take some time to themselves.Every child is different in how much guidance they need, and what form of discipline works for them, and I will discuss this with you when issues arise.  I will never hit a child (even at your request)! Above all, I cannot tolerate foul language or aggressive behaviour directed at me or other children in care. Serious issues will be discussed with the parents and may result in termination if there is no improvement in a reasonable amount of time.

Routine & Naps
Routine is very important for young children, and we have set times for meals, and a daily quiet/nap time for all children in the early afternoon. I require all children under age 4 to lie down quietly for at least 45 minutes. The ones that cannot sleep after this time may do quiet activities or watch a movie, while the other children sleep . (Babies may nap in the morning as well, if they need to).  I encourage parents to keep these times about the same at home on days off.

If your baby is new in care and not used to going to sleep on his or her own, napping at daycare may be a bit of an adjustment, especially if you are still nursing. Please discuss this with me, and we can work together on easing this transition.

Supplies & Diapering
All children need to have a change of clothing available.
Proper outdoor clothing is essential! (Boots, Hats, Mittens, Summer hats...)
I will supply sunscreen, as it is easier to just have to carry 1 bottle on outings, if your child is sensitive, please discuss it with me, I may be able to supply the brand you require.

For children still in diapers you will need to provide diapers,  and diaper rash cream as needed.  I will supply wipes, if you would like a specialty brand, you will need to supply them.
These items can be kept here in the child's cubby.

I will gladly help with potty training after discussing readiness and approach with you. I am potty training one other child right now
